After reading the following excerpts from the article below or the actual full article, I ask you if it is really a surprise to anyone that so many citizens have such little faith in the legislature. Maybe, instead of constantly authoring new legislation, we should take some real time to review and amend the laws, programs, budgets and agencies already in existence more thoroughly. “Mississippi’s Child Protection Services is short nearly $40 million, an unprecedented amount that could have severe repercussions for how the state manages the fledgling agency.

The shortfall, which represents one-fifth of the agency’s $207 million budget, shocked legislators, many of whom said they never had seen a miscalculation like this.”
