This year’s cursive writing bill has made it through the Senate Committee meeting and will make it to the floor for a full Senate vote.
For those of you that are unaware, cursive handwriting is no longer a part of the elementary education curriculum. In many schools, it is only electively taught through the students’ art class. Many parents already feel that today’s art classes are subpar, and half-heartedly teaching cursive handwriting in these classes is of no real benefit to students. Hence, there has been a growing push to add cursive writing back to the curriculum. Many parents and educators have been hoping that it will be added. Maybe this year, they will see it happen.
