JACKSON, Miss. — Mississippi will hold its presidential and congressional primaries on March 8.
The date has been posted for several weeks to Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann’s website.
But, as a formality, state law requires Hosemann to issue a proclamation about the primary date during December of the previous year. So, he did that on Wednesday.
The Democratic and Republican parties will have primaries for president and for Mississippi’s four U.S. House seats. Neither of the state’s U.S. Senate seats is on the ballot in 2016.
If runoffs are needed, they will be March 29.
