Mississippi PEP

A recent study of the 50 states and the District of Columbia found Mississippi was the 47th state for teachers.

Using data from the U.S. Census Bureau, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the National Education Association and Center for Educational Statistics, among other sources, WalletHub examined the states on 13 key metrics, ranging from median starting salary to projected number of teachers per student by 2022.

Those metrics were grouped into two primary rankings: Job Opportunity and Competition rank, in which Mississippi ranked 47th, and Academic and Work Environment, in which Mississippi ranked 43rd.
