Faculty and staff at DeSoto Central High School Thursday learned who will replace Superintendent-elect Cory Uselton when Uselton assumes the office of Superintendent of Education in January. 
The DeSoto County Board of Education approved the promotion of assistant principal Cliff Johnston to become the new school principal at DeSoto Central.
“I’ve had a great mentor the last five years with Mr. Uselton,” Johnston said after Thursday’s board meeting. “I’ve learned great things from him and I just look forward to keeping the school achieving at a high level and to the academic standards he has set.”
