It is so touching and incredibly inspiring when students step up to recognize and support other students that are often overlooked.  This story about Southaven High School and their homecoming is one heart warming story.  WMCTV Channel 5 News reported on this event.  Here is an excerpt from the report online:
“Senior Mary Jones is one of six special needs students on this year’s homecoming court. She said she found out Thursday the part she’d play in all the festivities.
The whole idea to include senior special needs students in the homecoming court came from two very important members of the homecoming team.
Senior band member Meaghan Millier and drum majorette Eva Geeter both hope this becomes school tradition.
“It’s such a big deal that these girls are graduating. They just deserve recognition after so much hard work,” Millier said.”
