I have had several people ask me about an investigation into Hernando High School by the MHSAA, concerning a couple of students at the high school and practicing with the football team but not actually living in the county. Allegedly, the principal, Freddie Joseph, was aware of the players actual residency (which is not DeSoto County) and allowed them to practice with the team anyway. This is a violation even though the students did not play in the game Friday night. The students in question actually live in Tunica. I did receive confirmation today, that the MHSAA is investigating this situation. They have not ruled on the situation as of now, but sources say the facts in the case do appear to support the validity of these claims. If you have any questions regarding this situation, I suggest calling Anthony Jenkins at the county office or contact the MHSAA directly.
