A Fortune 500 company is opening a distribution center in Olive Branch.AmerisourceBergen, a global health care solutions leader, is investing $48 million to build a facility at the IDI-Crossroads Distribution Center. The distribution center is expected to create 129 jobs. AmerisourceBergen will initially build a 400,000-square foot facility, but could add another 550,000 square feet if they need to expand.
AmerisourceBergen is based in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, and is one of the largest pharmaceutical sourcing and distribution services companies in the world. The company has more than $120 billion in annual revenue and employs 16,000 people worldwide. It is ranked No. 28 on the Fortune 500 list.
“Expanding our operations into Mississippi provides AmerisourceBergen with a new avenue to better serve our customers by continuing to improve product access, increase supply chain efficiency and enhance patient care,” said Chuck Ball, senior vice president of distribution services at AmerisourceBergen. “Mississippi is a great place to do business, and we look forward the ongoing partnership with the MDA and counting Mississippi residents among our workforce.”
The Mississippi Development Authority, city of Olive Branch and DeSoto County Board of Supervisors provided assistance on the project, including installation of equipment and infrastructure improvements.
