I have had people ask me where you can see copies of the local candidates’ campaign finance reports.  If it is a local candidate for a House or Senate seat, those reports can be found on the MS Secretary of State’s website.  All statewide positions can be found on the Secretary of State’s website as well.  (Link to Campaign Finance Filings on MS SOS website:  http://www.sos.ms.gov/Applications/Pages/Campaign-Finance-Filings.aspx).
For those people running for local, county positions such as:  Superintendent, Chancery Clerk, Constables, Judges, Supervisors, Tax Assessor, Tax Collector, Coroner and others, you have to go to Hernando to the Circuit Court Clerk’s office, Dale Kelly Thompson, and ask to see them.  Copies of the reports are $1.00 per page.  One employee told me that they hope to have these online by next month.
Below are links to the campaign finance reports of the DeSoto County superintendent candidates.  Many people have wanted  to see these particular reports, so here they are.  If you donated money to one of the candidates but are not listed, it is most likely because you donated $200 or less.  Anything over $200 has to be reported.  Amounts under $200 do not have to be reported.
Brief summary:  The reports show that Dr. Edith Robinson has raised the most money and has the most contributors.  They also show that Jim Ferguson has the most county office support (Emily Nelson, Joni Chalmers, Meredith Park, Ashley Bynum and Jimmy Stafford).  Also noteworthy Ferguson contributors:  Len Killough, Allyson Killough, a former OBHS student, Nathan Barron, that played Chess (program headed up by Emily Nelson), Bobbi Crider, Kent Meadows and Matthew Lipscomb.  There wasn’t anything really noteworthy about Darnell or Uselton’s reports.  Read the reports for yourself.

  1. Those who are aware of how DCS works are also aware that the candidates chosen by county office employees are most certainly the ones that don’t need to be there.
