There have been several gun bills proposed this year in the 2015 Legislature. These bills address everything from who can carry a concealed firearm, limiting where a firearm can be discharged, to protecting Mississippi citizens from unconstitutional federal mandates and laws.
House Bill 161
Introduced by Rep. Rushing proposes to amend section 45-9-101, to exempt retired law enforcement officers from licensing requirements to carry a concealed weapon.
House Bill 178
Introduced by Rep. Formby, is a bill that protects Mississippi citizens from the growing federal government that acts without consent of the American people. If passed this bill would provide that any federal law which attempts to ban a semi-automatic firearm or attempts to limit the size of a magazine of a firearm shall be unenforceable in the State of Mississippi. This is one of the most important bills introduced.
